December is gathering pace — and so are we! We present the continuation of VID's news digest: we share what made this pre-New Year month memorable for us and which events set its rhythm!
- Manufacture of electrical distribution equipment for floating dock 28140С completed
VID has completed the manufacture of electrical distribution equipment and control consoles for floating dock 28140С, under construction at SSK PJSC. The entire electrical distribution equipment package has passed mandatory Russian Maritime Register of Shipping certification and was shipped to the customer within the contractually stipulated timeframe.
The equipment fully complies with safety and reliability requirements, as confirmed by the relevant documentation. This project demonstrates VID’s ability to work effectively with major industrial facilities and deliver assigned tasks to a high standard.
- Manufacture of electrical distribution equipment for a patrol boat completed
VID has fulfilled an order for the supply of a set of electrical distribution equipment for a patrol boat under construction at the Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya Shipyard.
The supplied equipment includes: power plant equipment with a main switchboard and automation system, the vessel’s uninterruptible power supply system, control panels for electric drives of shipboard systems and machinery, and distribution equipment for the vessel’s power network.
The products have passed the required tests in accordance with the requirements of the governing documents. The equipment was shipped to the customer within the stipulated timeframe, confirming VID’s ability to deliver complex integrated projects for the shipbuilding industry.
- Joint development of highly reliable static power converters for marine electric propulsion systems
VID has reached an agreement with Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NSTU) on the joint development of static power converters rated above 2 MW for use in vessel electric propulsion systems.
The converters under development will feature improved electromagnetic compatibility, as well as lower specific heat generation, dimensions, and weight.
A higher switching frequency of the power switches will improve electromagnetic compatibility with the shipboard network and reduce adverse effects on the windings of propulsion motors.
The converters will offer enhanced reliability, resistance to external influences, and adaptation for operation under harsh marine vessel conditions. Researchers from NSTU’s Institute of Electric Power Engineering are participating in the work.
- Foundation laid for potential cooperation in the field of high-voltage electric drives
Subject to positive tender results, a research project will be launched jointly with the Department of Electric Drives at Alekseev NSTU to develop digital control systems based on multilevel frequency converters for transportation systems.
The project aims to develop and investigate electric drive control systems and algorithms based on multilevel frequency converters rated at 1 MW and above.
The completion of this work will enable VID to proceed to the development and manufacture of high-voltage electric drives rated above 5 MW, which are in demand for icebreakers and passenger vessels.
